Google has just refreshed its Google My Business service. The facility allows companies to choose between profile, logo and cover images as display photos for search and maps. The service now allows users to choose which photo people will see when they search for their business.
The revamped interface guides businesses through six different categories of images, including identity, interior, exterior, work, team and additional photos. It offers a series of useful tips, including “Interior photos help your customers get a feel for the ambiance and decor of your business. Capture photos that truthfully show what it’s like to stand inside your business as a customer.”
Before the changes were implemented, the business profile picture used on Google+ would automatically appear in Google search. Businesses can now use a different photo for Google+ and search. Business owners need to log into their profiles and head to the Photos section in order to take advantage of the new features.
Google are also recommending types of photos based on the industries that businesses belong to. It promises to guide businesses through adding photos that will show customers what makes their company unique. The company says that hotel owners will be given tips on how to show their guests what to expect from their stay, with café and restaurant managers being provided with guidance on how to showcase their food and drink in the best possible light.
The new features are available through browsers and the Android/iOS versions of Google My Business.
